Deputy Commissioner Fire Prevention

Assistant Commissioner Sean Orlando Martin, Chief Fire Prevention Officer, joined the St Thomas Division of the Jamaica Fire Brigade in 1997. Over the period July 1997 to March 2005, he served the St Thomas and Training division respectively in various positions and was transferred to Fire Prevention Headquarters. His most recent appointment was to the position of Assistant Commissioner in charge of Fire Prevention.

Assistant Commissioner Martin has completed numerous professional courses throughout his career, including: Fire Prevention Level I-IV, Fire Investigation Level I-IV at The Texas A & M University, Instructor Training, Fire Prevention Inspector at JFB Training School, Train the Trainer at MIND, Hazardous Material Incident and Occupational Health and Safety at, Proposal Writing at

Assistant Commissioner Sean Martin holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and BSc in Human Resource Management from The University of The Commonwealth Caribbean. He also holds Post Graduate Diplomas in Public Sector Senior Management Development from Management Institute for National Development (MIND), International Divisional Command from The Fire Service College in, UK. He also holds Diplomas in the following; Building & Drafting Technology from Vocational Training Development Institute (VTDI), Management Study, from The Management Institute for National Development (MIND). He is a recipient of the Medal of Honour for Meritorious Service in 2017.

Throughout his career, Assistant Commissioner Martin has held the following appointments: Assistant Commissioner in charge of Area I, Acting Divisional head for Kingston & St Andrew and St Ann divisions respectively, Second-in-Command Fire Prevention, Divisional Head St Mary Division, Officer-in-Charge of Plan Review (Fire Prevention Headquarters), Officer-in-Charge Fire Prevention (St Thomas Division).

His current interests include playing Lawn Tennis, Chess and Debating, Watching football, Athletics and Tennis. He is an avid reader and enjoys seeing a good movie. Assistant Commissioner Martin is the father of three (3) children, Kyle, Sean Junior and his heartbeat Savanna.
