Laurie Williams JP Retired

Laurie Adrian Williams JP made his entrance in the Kingston and St. Andrew Fire Brigade on September 1, 1977.

In 1995 when the fire services in Jamaica were amalgamated, he was promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent. Since that time he never looked back and it was evident that he had the mettle for the top job in the Jamaica Fire Brigade. He worked as Commandant of the itinerant Jamaica Fire Brigade Training School and was not afraid to demonstrate good discipline and other leadership skills.

Commissioner Williams was afforded the opportunity to attend the Fire Service College in Moreton-in-Marsh England twice, where he did Operational Command in the first instance and afterwards, the International Brigade Command Course where he did exceptionally well.

He made it to the commissioning level of the organization in December 2004 when he was appointed Assistant Commissioner. He worked as Area Officer in Areas I, III, IV and also as Chief Fire Prevention Officer. Since 2007 he has been appointed Commissioner and has given yeoman service.

Commissioner Williams is an articulate speaker and a great facilitator of learning. Almost thirty seven (37) years of one's life to an organization is no mean feat and should be applauded. His tour of duty came to an end on June 12, 2014 when he retired from the post of Commissioner.

Thank you sir for a job well done.
